Ten-year-old Clive Killborn spends his days chopping wood to pay for his mother Hilda’s addiction to 1-900-Psychic Hotlines. Isolated from the outside world, Clive isn’t allowed to attend school or play with his friend, Liza. His life revolves around his mother’s demands, fetching the phone and working to keep up with her bills.
Christmas Heartbreak
Clive dreams of receiving a toy train for Christmas, but when he opens his gift, he’s heartbroken to find something else. He gives Hilda a wooden telephone he carved, but she cruelly mocks him, demanding he chop it up. She declares her hatred for the gift, for Christmas, and for Clive himself.
A Life of Carving
Years later, Clive becomes a skilled woodcarver. He is engaged to Liza, but their relationship crumbles when she asks him to change careers. Clive refuses, and Liza leaves him. Alone again, Clive pours himself into his carving, his art becoming increasingly disturbing.
Fatal Requests
Several women arrive at Clive’s home—Abby Deer, Cheyenne Tenderfoot, Hunter Sureshot, and Fern Flora—each asking him, “Bring me the phone.” They all meet a grisly fate, becoming part of Clive’s wooden sculptures, just as his mother did years earlier.
Dark Secrets Revealed
Gabby Deer searches for her missing sister, Abby, unaware of Clive’s horrifying secret. At an art exhibit in New York, Clive’s sculptures gain attention, but when a statue is knocked over, Abby’s arm is revealed. Gabby recognizes her sister’s bracelet, uncovering the dark truth behind Clive’s art.
